The world you lead is more complex, interconnected and dynamic than it’s ever been, a world where only the imaginative survive (of the original Fortune 500, 89% are gone).
Organizations engage Gordian because we:
Gordian’s efforts began at the request of the U.S. Government to meet a requirement identified by the 9-11 Commission. Shortly after we created a method to deliver the imaginative genius of the creative arts community to the military and intelligence communities. Over our 14 year track record we have discreetly worked on some of the most sensitive challenges our country has faced. In the years since, our client list has grown to include businesses and social organizations but our fundamental mission remains to improve organizations with transformative insights and divergent solutions.
At the Gordian Institute, we have unique convening authority to a network of brilliant thinkers. We turn to professional imaginers who have proven the ability to create unique solutions in the most competitive environments and we bring them together in unusually effective combinations. The Gordian Institute’s method of tailoring teams delivers the energy of a startup to attack your most difficult problems.
The Gordian Institute’s Adaptive Creative Thinking TM (ACT) methodology creates a synergistic mix of divergence, diversity, and creativity that we have proven ignites creative insights and disruptive solutions. Most importantly by drawing on the wisdom of human experience, imagination, and insight to attack problems and design solutions, we excel in the blind spots and crevices where the most advanced computational and analytic capabilities fall short.
Many of the world’s leading organizations, even those with nearly unlimited analytic and computational capacity, turn to the Gordian Institute to help them gain competitive advantage on their path to the future. Perhaps you should too.
Think Tanks can be wonderful, but they are typically academic in their focus, and/or focused on a particular industry. We’re not. We solve problems; we don’t necessarily publish on them. The Gordian Institute brings a multi-disciplinary approach to the challenges we take on. Picture a rigorous, applied TED discussion with a diverse group of thought leaders working on a solution for your challenge, or IDEO focused on issues rather than products and you’ll begin to see the difference. Our multi-disciplinary approach with a focus on transformation is a critical ingredient to the success of the challenges we work on. As a result, we’re not bound by a single methodology. We specialize in making complex transformational thinking a simple transactional outcome – no long entangled engagements just results. We have a strong bias to action, unparalleled talent and a track record second to none.
We don’t publish a fee schedule because just as every problem is unique, so is the solution, as well as the resources needed to arrive at the solution. That said, if we’re intrigued by the challenges you’re facing, we will do everything within our power to ensure that compensation doesn’t stand between the problem and the solution. In most cases, and given the magnitude of the issues we are called upon to address, our fees end-up being little more than a rounding error. When the stakes are huge, most of our clients view us as very cheap insurance – they can’t afford not to hire us.
Becoming a Gordian fellow, scholar or faculty member is by invitation only. You may always feel free to send us your qualifications, but no phone calls please. From time-to-time we do hold invitation only casting calls where we offer candidates of interest a chance to demonstrate if they have what it takes to become a member of the Gordian team. With all due respect – don’t call us, we’ll call you.
We consider any inquiry that is serious. While most of our engagements have been with large commercial concerns, and in support of government and public policy challenges, we have also worked with non-profits, associations, foundations, and entrepreneurial endeavors as well. It’s not the size of your organization that interests us; it’s the size of the challenge.
In most cases clients can make requests for specific individuals, and we attempt to accommodate where availability and conflicts of interest don’t intervene. The client will have full visibility and approval rights to team members in advance.
We are an independent, bipartisan organization with no specific religious affiliation. We neither encourage nor discourage individual Gordian Institute scholars, faculty and fellow from participating in organizations, pursuits or religious beliefs of their choosing. Diversity of thought and experience is what makes for a rich client experience and a successful outcome. It is only by listening to dissenting opinion and working through opposing positions and perspectives that best solutions are surfaced.
The members displayed on the website are merely a representative sampling of Gordian thought leaders. Some of our members are serving in capacities which preclude us from advertising them publicly. Additionally, our team members are generally very high profile public figures, and some of them prefer to anonymous to the public.
